THE SHORT ANSWER

What information belongs in a DAT load posting?

A useful load posting gives carriers accurate locations, dates, equipment, dimensions, weight, commodity and special requirements. Keep the posting current and verify the carrier separately before booking.

What information belongs in a DAT load posting?

Luis’s screen demonstration uses an older version of DAT Power. The interface and product names may have changed, but the operating lesson still applies: a carrier should be able to understand the actual shipment from the information you provide.

Before posting, confirm the pickup and delivery locations, dates and available hours. Identify the required equipment and whether the shipment needs the full trailer or can move as a partial. Use verified details rather than filling gaps with assumptions.

Describe the freight and handling requirements

Include accurate weight, dimensions or space required, piece count and commodity information where the platform allows it. Equipment selection should match the shipment. A product description alone does not establish that a particular trailer is suitable.

State requirements such as loading assistance, securement or special handling clearly. Sensitive or specialized freight may need additional qualification beyond a general load-board posting. Resolve missing details with the customer before offering the work.

Make it easy to reach the right person

Check the contact information and use a reference number your team can recognize. When several people are covering loads, a usable reference helps route calls and avoid confusion between similar lanes.

Luis also demonstrates looking at available truck posts and their age. A posted truck is a starting point for a conversation, not a promise of current availability. Confirm the carrier’s location, equipment and ability to meet the schedule.

Use market information as context and keep posts accurate

Rate information can help frame a conversation, but it does not replace the specific requirements of the move or a current carrier quote. The example rates shown in the recording belong to that demonstration and should not be used as today’s pricing.

Post only genuine freight you are authorized to offer, and remove or update the posting when its status changes. For current button-by-button instructions, use DAT’s own product help. Carrier identity, authority, insurance and suitability still require verification after a response arrives.
